What is the Neighbourhood Plan?
The Hitcham Neighbourhood Plan is a planning policy document written by the community to guide future development in the area over the next 15 years.
If successful at referendum, the Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the statutory development plan for the area. It will be used to determine planning applications.
Producing the Neighbourhood Plan will involve listening to the community to understand the key planning issues. Following the very successful Open Day a survey was put out to the whole village, and 115 households responded either on paper or online. The results will now be tabulated and, in consultation with our professional advisers, used to draw up a draft Plan. More information will follow on this page.
Who is involved?
A Steering Group has been formed to run the Neighbourhood Plan process, involving Parish Councillors and local residents. The group are involved in listening to the community to form the content of the Plan.
Members include: Deborah Saw, Malcolm Currie, Allan Scott, Hilda Bull, Ruth Crocket, Duncan Selby, Jane Fairweather.
The Steering Group is working in partnership with a professional team who have long experience with Neighbourhood Plans. As well as assisting with the process they will ensure the final document accurately reflects the wishes and needs of the community, as well as meeting the legal requirements that will ensure it’s approved by the independent examiner when it is submitted to Babergh.
